I hope I didn't offended anyone, I closed and moved the topic "After the loggers" to the archives.

It became to politicized for my taste. As well as offered up some nice personal threats and insults.

Both ON the forum and off to me personally via email.

-----I don't need this garbage in my life-------

I remove the offending post, but please understand, as soon as politics or religion are brought into a conversation, it fuels a fire that has NO PLACE at the OLF.

Thanks.

Lance, I haven't read any more about that post since I tried to hijack it into a Land Cruiser discussion. So I'm not really sure the angle in which it was headed.
But here's the way I see it. You don't EVER need to appologize for doing what you think is the right thing for the forum. It's your sandbox, you make the rules. If people don't like it, they can take their toys and go home.
You are doing a wonderful job here and teh fact that you've only had to step in a handfull of times shows that you are running this place very well. Keep it up.
Guess I must have missed the fireworks after stepping out for some quality time with my favorite vices. No great loss on the thread, other than the Land Cruiser 'jack.
We could always start a LC thread of our own!

Lance,

I haven't read the posts in question yet, and I probably won't. I like the friendliness of the exchanges around here, and I support you nixing anything that's ill mannered. The OLF is fun and you're doing a good job keeping it that way.

To tell ya the truth, spelling and grammer was the last thing on my mind. What is going on behind the scene is no joke.

Mario, your " i told ya so" comment is getting old, im sorry but I dont find it funny. Whats your point anyways?LanceK38845.8570138889

Hey Lance Bro, step back and read this a couple days from now...then you'll find the humor in it all.
We were all just trying to lighten your mood...knowing how opressed you are over this. Sorry for having fun with you...
I'm sure that's what Mario's intention was as well.
Breathe deep....that's it, take some nice slow deep breaths and go hang with the family and enjoy them for the evening and forget the OLF and the little issues for the night.

Maybe that would be better discussed off forum. Over PM maybe.

Sorry it's getting to this point for you Lance.

Lance, Don's advice to step back and take a deep breath is good advice. I see no further need for this thread....YMMV of course

Hi Lance,

I have to apologise to you, not you to me. I'm pretty good about leaving religion out of forum discussions, but I have a much more difficult time separating the boards from the trees from the forest from the environment from the environmentalists, loggers, and politicians fighting over it all...

I do think it is impossible to have a discussion regarding "certification", "environment", "managed forestry", "illegal logging", "CITES" or anything related without thinking of the political ties to those issues. They are intertwined, whether we speak of them , or whether we remain mute.

As a member of the Rainforest Alliance, who once boycotted all tropical woods, then started a tiny lumber company that exclusively sold certified Smartwood lumber, you have to know my passions run deep in this arena.

However, I will redouble my efforts to restrain from anything remotely political seeping into my posts, which may mean I simply back off and refrain from adding to some threads.

Finally, I hope you boot anyone who makes public or private threats to you or any member.

Dennis Leahy

Dennis, well said, I participated in the thread as well and apologize if it offended anyone. I could tell you had a passion for this as well as a few of the other guys. I also participated in the LandCruiser posts since I used to have one myself. I agree with your take on the subjects, hard to discuss without making some reference to one on the list. It is concerning that folks would launch personal threats or insults towards Lance, that is really strange.

Over and gone

I hope my comments in that thread weren't seen as threatening to anyone. I was trying to steer clear of politics.

Lance I totally understand, you have nothing at all to apologise for.

Cheers
